2" x 3" x 11 1/2" This is a moderate wood in strength and weight. It works easliy and has terrific ray flakes on quartersawn surfaces (see closeup below)

Please see http://www.woodbarter.com/showthread.php?tid=90 for my barter interests

Very pretty. How does it turn? This would make an excellent rolling pin I bet. You'd still have nearly a 4/4 piece after squaring on the band saw.

It has a very slight tendancy to chip, but no big deal and it turns very nicely.

I'm trying to find the time to make some rolling pins and cutting boards - but I can't find any. Time that is.

Thinking about buying some at wally world, put them on the lathe, turn them down a 1/16" and be able to say "I turned this pin especially for you."

Same with the cutting boards. Buy a stack of long grain boards, glue them all together, let dry, band saw them into end grain boards.

"I made this end grain cutting board just for you." :secret:
