Ha, but I did not turn it. Big leaf, a little figure. 15x3. Done by a local Turner. Wood, the wonderment of nature.

Wow! I wish I could get maple like that back here. In Europe, they, for some reason, decided that all figured wood needs to be cut to only contain one kind of figure. So trunks with burls will have all the burl wood cut out and all their figure separated from the clear wood. While this is good for matching wood from different trees, it really makes it hard to get wood like yours. Combined with the fact, that collecting wood by yourself is really hard to do (unless it’s small), this makes for some really low availability of pieces like this.

No. A piece of a log i bought last spring. That was one of the B pieces. Maybe one of the cleanest I have cut.
The question was apparently worded wrong. But the answer is what I expected.
As a b grade, the transition is amazing from burl to curl.

To heck with the transition - I just love curl!! Well, and burl, and quilt, and pommel, and xylay, and birds-eye, and feather crotch, and skabetti burl, and...............
