Thanks for those ideas Mark. The original lighthouse didn't have any masking in the cupola windows. That combined with the bulb in there isn't very bright makes me conclude it isn't necessary to mask it. Although as you probably know, most lighthouses do have some crystalline structure glass (Fresnel lens) which is designed to narrow and focus the beam of light so it penetrates as far out to sea as possible. That Fresnel glass does look a little cloudy from outside. I can easily move the red wire you can see in the window. I thought about making some sort of window pane but opted for just the cross hatch grill. I've seen 1/16" acrylic sheet that comes in almost any color you can imagine and I bet the scale model industry has even thinner stuff, be easy enough to scuff that up with steel wool or 400 grit and get that cloudy look. But I think I'm calling this finished now and trying to figure out how to give it to my granddaughter.
