**A true Irish transverse flute (low D) is usually at least 21-11/16" long or longer up to 27-1/2" for very thin bore diameters. Low whistles are of a similar size.
For the tuning joint you usually needed 2-3 cm extra.
Keyed transverse flutes need more thickness for the pivots 5 cm or 2 inches for wall thickness for low irish whistles.
