New Member from the Gulf Coast of Texas

I was surfing the web and came across this cool site. Next thing I know I was 2 hours into reading lots of the previous threads and decided to join the community. I recognize a few of the members on here also. I've own a lathe since Christmas of 2011 and started turning pens. Now I'm starting to expand my addiction to game calls, boxes, bowls etc. I think y'all recognize my symptoms LOL. I've always enjoyed working with woods and do all my own woodwork for my taxidermy business.

I'm located just east of Houston. Here's an axis deer recently completed for a client.[attachment=10421]

We just took a trip down to the Hill Country to put out corn and do some work on the cabin. About 5 miles from the ranch a big axis doe ran out of the ditch and nearly into us. I asked my buddy "why didnt you hit that !"

I hear they are fine eating. Just hoping one will wander up when I have a rifle :irishjig:

Yes they are very fine eating. A big fat axis doe is just the ticket for the freezer. No sausage from them. I steak it all out!!
