A buddy of mine, who is also a club member, has his father’s Nova for sale. It has only been used a hand full of times. Does anyone know what this lathe minus the bed extension sold for new? I’m thinking of picking it up. Cheers.

Just talked to a friend of mine who is a Nova dealer, he said between $1000-$1200 but he said that one has the motor upgrade that was an option and that was about $700 alone.

I have the same model, a few years older. Bought used so no idea what the new price was. It's been a solid performer for the 3 years that I've had it.

Was the only lathe I ever bought NIB at a Woodcraft— before motor upgrade was a thing— was $700.
Great lathe- didn’t upgrade my motor so I change pulley for speed change- it’s easy

I bought my 1624 new at Woodcraft - think it was on sale at $799 (probably $1100 regular). Like this one pictured, I bought the variable speed motor, that was $650 or so, in my opinion absolutely worth it.

I also have the bed extension - on a swing-away hinge, which makes getting the tailstock out of the way really simple when I want to hollow out anything. And the outboard tool rest thingummy in case I ever want to make a platter. One of these days I expect to use it for that - until then it's a handy way to get a dial indicator into position to check the run-out of stuff mounted in a chuck.

Thanks everyone for the information and taking the time to respond. I’ll make a post if I make the purchase. I’ll have to move stuff around in the shop if it comes home. Cheers.
