Finally had an excuse to make a few sets of grips, something I've not done for quite a while. The guy I made these for wanted purpleheart, so I suggested curly/figured, but he opted for just "plain" wood. Picked up a small board from my local guy and got to work.
One set is for a 1911, the other set is for a Ruger XR3-Red frame. I've only made a few sets for revolvers, but never for this particular frame. Fortunately, I have that frame and used it and the existing grips as templates. I'll be making 2 more (different) sets for him, one being a Ruger XR3 frame and the other are inserts for a Ruger SP101, all out of the same board of purpleheart. All grips were left in the sun for a few hours to help bring the purple back after sanding, then finished with multiple coats of Tru-Oil.
Original board

Ruger XR3-Red Revolver (w/factory Ruger Medallions)
