Have a Marlin 60 gun stock I stripped and sanded a few years ago planning to refinish it for my oldest daughter. As usual, life got in the way, this stock took a back seat and has been hiding in my closet. The initial plan was to dye it blue in a sunburst/fade from one end to another. I ended up just dying the whole thing blue without attempting to fade it from dark to light. Applied multiple coats of Keda dye followed by several coats of Tru-oil. It was hard to get good pics. Trying to decide if it will go on a stainless gun or blued barrel. Leaning towards the blued barrel.

Thanks,

-jason

Purple gun is blasphemy, just kidding looks nice. Do not feel bad. I had a mint savage 99 250/3000 1951 in early 80s a friend shot it, case cracked and put gas in stock and broke it. I got a blank but took until 2014 to finish. Thread here somewhere. Now that is pro level procrastinating.

I agree, a purple gun would be blasphemous....that's why I went with blue.:yipee:

Showed it to a buddy of mine and he said "only issue I see is nearly ever animal that is "color blind" sees on the blue green spectrum." :unknown:

I'm sure I have projects nearing that long to complete....one day I will get to them.

I have read that blue jeans stands out to them. I am not colored wood guy but stainless and that deep blue is good combo.

I've heard deer see shades of blue better than anything, which makes sense about blue jeans.

Told my buddy that the color of my stock was the least of my hunting weaknesses.

Total agreement. I think my hunting days are over. First I am old. Second wolf population in NE Washington is scary. Deer elk moose numbers have plummeted. Our state has anti hunting game department blames on CWD, not saying there is no CWD but they banned bait or salt but 1000s of elk and deer at winter feeding station. Make no sense.
