saw restoration help

Hi, I found a sweet little Disston back saw and am restoring it. I have cleaned the blade as clean as I want but the etch is visible and i can read most of it but i would like to make it a little clearer. Is there something I can use to remove the black but not damage the etch. I think some body cleaned it before because when I started on it the etch looked like it had already been worked on. Thanks Mike

ok I'll try that, most of the utubde videos use sand paper and don't mention the etch

I'm sure I'll get there eventually. Have done a few handplanes. But I also really like the couple of Japanese pull saws I have - I like cutting with them a lot better than western style hand saws.
