that is some of the nicest figured wood i have found and the hardest i have ever worked with!

i hope you have some crap blades to cut that up with. it trashes any edge on any tool i have worked with :dash2::dash2:

but those issues are well worth it once you start cutting it up. outstanding find! :yipee::yipee:
can't wait to see it with the bark off

Well I cut it up today, and here is what I found.

Not as much figure as I had hoped, but still some swirly grain. This burl is so dry that I am soaking it in wood juice to try to make it turn a bit easier.:wacko3:

I think it looks great. Almost like an Olive Burl. Oak Burl that I have seen is not packed with eyes but the figure is always great. Nothing to be disappointed in there brother. I cant wait to see what comes of this. Got a pic with a little water mist on it? I bet that figure would really pop then.

Some smileys at the request of my 5 year old.:good:

I am useing some really curly white oak in one of my boxes. Really pretty stuff--BUT- man is it hard and heavy- it is heavier then the persimmon- by quite a bit. I think the look is worth it though.

Is wood juice a barrel of whiskey? :unknown:
