Would I use it, I'd try almost anything once.
According to Google AI first electric router was invented in 1905 by the Kelley Electric Machine Co and weighed about 60#.
Onsrud brothers invented an air powered one in 1915 and called it "Jet Motor Hand Router".
Stanley Works bought a 18,000 rpm "portable router design" that was "similar" to modern designs from Roy Carter in the 1930's.
First plunge router in 1949 by a German Company called ELU which is now part of DeWalt.
