Why would someone in Dubai be selling 100 square meters of ziricote logs? I know they've been throwing billions around over there the past 20 years but damn, they imported the logs, didn't process them and now they are selling for export? Could it be that even the filthy-rich Arab contractors are beginning to get in over their heads with low oil prices and the way they have been spending like drunken sailors?

Edited to remove brazen, thoughtless, extremely non-PC comment. :sorry:

Edited.

Are we sure these logs aren't from the lost zircote forests of Dubai?

Where did you see all that advertised for sale? Do you think it is legit? Might by something as a group we should liberate for repurpose. Just a thought anyway. Work a deal so it all ends up as something and not scrap.

100 square meters? Should be pretty cheap to ship since it's that new 2 dimensional lumber.....

That would make it kinda difficult to turn would it not? :ponder:

Where's them flat work guys hiding? :sofa: Knife handles... Lots of them!

I wanted to learn how to make it a segmented bowl but missed the post by a few years. Now the only help is cut, glue, turn.

From what I've seen the upper class over there has a fetish for expensive stuff, Rolexes, Lambos, etc. Someone probably wanted to veneer their high-rise with Zirc, and the deal fell through... or it wasn't good enough for them.....

Maybe they got them there and then figured out there was no mill- probably not a big market for firewood there either......

Is it possible the folks in Dubai own an interest in the South American wood industry and are actually just middle men brokering a wood deal?

Yes it's very likely actually.
