Hello, my name is Mike Hayes, I do reclaim work as well as re builds on old log barns and homes. I am currently dismantling an 10,280 bf all American Chestnut barn on the banks of the Clinch river, near Kyles Ford Tennessee. I also do unusual wood working projects in my shop, mostly with Chestnut and oak that I reclaim. I am attaching a pic of an communion table I made for a church I constructed in 2015-16, in Maryville TN.

Hi, Mike that is pretty sweet. However, the admins will tell you to first post a thread introducing yourself. Those are the rules.

Sorry I noticed this is the introduction thread. I am not sure you can sell things in this section ...

You should read our rules first. This is a site for wood workers and not just a place to sell wood..

I think you could delete it and introduce yourself like you did here and then make another thread in the sell section offering the chestnut wood

That is a unique communion table. Cant say I have ever seen antlers on the church furnishings before.
Welcome from a little west of you in Crossville TN.
If you will read through a few of the sale post, you will see this sight is often like the community table at the local diner. A little business and a lot of chat.
That being said there are several of us that do flat work that would want to talk to you. Dont run off just yet. Pull up a chair and sit a spell

Mike, Welcome from South Texas! That's a nice table, is the antler decorative or a handle? Tony

The elk antlers on the sides are for looks, the ones on top are handles to access where the communion plates are stored

It's a rain day here in middle tn too!

You got another few hours as I see my Radar.

Btw you made anything out of the old barn frame timbers?
I have not made anything from any of the large Chestnut beams that I have reclaimed as of yet. I am in the process of building a larger shop and am glad you asked the question. I like building larger projects, for instance at the church I built I made an unusual chandelier out of cedar limbs. I made it to look like an elk antler chandelier. I used the limbs from some of the red cedar trees we harvested to do the interior wood finishes in the church. I could post some pics if you would like to see them.
