Doing what ancient trees, people, elephants, etc. Do is die. And the human help probably speeded it's demise.
Packing the ground around it and making it supporting limbs that should have broken off did not extend life. Neither did the concrete.
This over loving nature is why many giants are kept secret.
And to start with weather, arghh, never want to miss the politics.
Ps. The concrete raises hell with reuse. I have a picture of an 8' diameter x12' big leaf that I made deal on. But never got slabbed. Concrete... hell on blades.

Sad. The bavaria beech is similar. Didn’t get as old though.

I'm only aware of 1 exception!

Agree completely on the rest, we like to play God like we can make things live/last forever - but rarely do we do much but contribute to demise.
