I talked to a guy today that lives right down the road from me and has a timber king 2000, I'm surprised I've never heard of him, got to talking with him and he has a 72" diameter sycamore log..... showed me phone pictures and its a monster! Pretty amazing log! I' will be doing some trading too him form a couple spalter sycamore logs . Has anybody seen a sycamore that big? I thought the ones by my work were big. Back in the day in this old end of town the city planted sycamores next to the street for probably 50 blocks and all of them are well over 36" and I thought they were huge. Do sycamores generally get that big?

We just discussed this in the live oak thread. I have one nearly 5' but I cannot drop it. Too dangerous - it's tied in with 3 other sycamore tops and an osage.

I couldn't even imagine trying to move and handle a log that big, the thing is 25' long..... probably weighs 30,000 pounds....

Woodweb has online calculators to figure estimated weight....you don't really have to guess.

Not that large but I have a BIL in S. Ga that had a sycamore over 4 ft diameter. I found out too late and he burned it to get rid of it. No local mills wanted it.
