Grabbed some of the blanks I had prepped for bottle openers and ice cream scoops and got my inventory and a few special orders done today. I finish all of them with several coats CA and then a buffing.

Colin, I see that a lot of them are "paired" and wanted to know if they usually sell together, or if you package them that way? Just curious of the tendency of someone to buy a set if they are there together.

Two of them are pairs with matching handles already ordered by a customer, I don't usually do sets but since I was using the same wood for both I figured I'd do two other pairs just in case. It seems whether it's sets of these or pen and pencil sets people are always asking to buy one or the other.... :banghead:

Nicely done! I need to give a few of these a try.

For those thinking of giving a few of these a try here is my experience about the suppliers FWIW......

Bottle Openers, I like the Rockler one, it's beefy, they supply the metal insert to screw into and I've yet to have one come back over the last 4 years. I made my own mandrel for them by cutting off a 5/16-18 bolt and putting it in my Jacobs chuck, Live center on the other end for most of the turning and then remove at the end, you could probably also turn them between centers using a dead center....

Ice Cream Scoops, I've tried a number of them and as far as durability, actual performance scooping ice cream and all around niceness I went with the stainless steel one from Woodcraft, A little spendy at 12-13.00 each unless on sale but I have yet to have a failure, the instructions tell you to thread the wood with a 3/8-16 tap but since the idea is to be able to remove the head for cleaning I worried about long term durability on the threads and went with drilling them and putting in a metal insert (About an extra 1.00 each but IMO well worth it)

Thanks for the tip on the ice cream scoop. Letting people unscrew the metal to wash would save the finish on the wood.
