Hello folks...one of my dream/desire tool was a bandsaw for my small homeshop (60 m²).
In Brazil the best choose is Makita LB 1200F around $800 to you compare with yours (similar or other brands in any other country).
The table is cast iron and the weight is around 80 kg.
Few days ago I started to mount it.At YT I found help to do it alone and was easy (I am a mechanic guy).

The worst part is tune the blade to cut properly.
The other issue will be the dust collect.

I was checking at YT and found some help.These teachers are very good.

Here how to tune the blade at a hi level:

Congrats on the new bandsaw! Tuning it up is the key! So many adjustments possible in order to make consistently good cuts! But you are an expert at tools, so you should master it in no time! Ready to hear feedback once you get to cutting wood! Chuck

I am thinking in make a PVC dust collector before my first cut.The bearings are off yet and soon I believe I can set both issues.I"ll be back to say about the first impressions when I have it.

Teachers change everything. I find rob cosman is very good in general. I recommend him a lot. I had the fortune to learn from my dad so I got most of my skills from him.

Snodgrass is the guy I listen to. Is that factory blade? If so they usually come with dirt cheap blade.

I agree with the bandsaw guy...about blade it is original and the machine is Made in Japan...I read a lot before buy and they sell around the world.The people say it is not so bad blade.
To me a better blade only when I visit US or Europe...I don't want to pay extras (Brazilian tax).
My use is not professional and the blade will last until there.

I was wondering if he was going to use the flip technique. It's a lot harder when you get into two inch wide bands.

Hello folks...I was adjusting the low bearings of my bandsaw and found two problems.

First at the owner's manual they dont tell nothing about this adjust.The bearings need three adjust and only two are described.

Second:the slot I need to adjust is out of work.Locked by factory and can't move any direction. The quality control failed in hi level...very bad feeling.The machine is pricy and Made in Japan. In the past the stuff made there was hi level.

I am a mechanic guy and know many tasks so was easy to correct (time consuming) using my tools and skills.
But a regular costumer maybe need Makita support to understand and solve the problem.

The table needs to be out to reach bolts

The slot at left is locked

Can't move

See the scratches...needed a Bronze hammer and wood to unlock

I polished using a 3000 sandpaper and wax.Now free and perfect (A)

The blade looks like a tempered at teeth


As Alex told the deep part of the gullet at center of wheel

About dust collection I am trying to make something like this below:

The acrylic add support and "close" the big original hole.My vacuum has a 32 mm diameter.


Step drill...acrylic melt a lot and a step drill works fast

Two sizes

Magnets to lock support base

Support lock the PVC pipe

This is a prototype and need tests to check performance

Here has another part not shown...to cover the blade

Because internal parts of machine I need to put the pipe at angle to conect the vacuum tube

I'll show more when I have

Today I just finished the dust collector pipe.I add one piece at project so can be easy to change position.
The bandsaw adjusts and the dust collector at machine is ok.
Soon I need to save (I already working on it) my 26 year vacuum and instal a bucket with cyclone at the circuit.

I add this piece (how do you call this in English?).I can move the pipe up or down a litte for adjust

In place...now the exit is 90⁰.

I have built that. I think I gave it away but it works quite well. I used it for a router table because it limited my sanding work. I also made the bottom replaceable so I could make different handle shapes. (My router had a flush trim bit (I think that is what it is called) where it rolls on the bottom board but cuts anything above it to size. Worked a dream. I did finish with a spokes have though.
