A trade.

So I went to my favorite local gun shop and worked out a trade with them. I purchased this ruger stainless redhawk. 44 magnum from them back in the early 80s. I used to carry it when hunting, I dont hunt anymore so it needed to go to a new home. Plus ammo for it has gotten stupid expensive. I still had the original box and owners manual. It has gone up in value over what I paid for it.
I also used this little colt .25 auto as part of the trade, it has no value to me as I have 2 baretta .25 autos.

I traded straight up for this springfield garrison .45 acp in stainless it has all the features I would want in a .45. 8+1, great trigger and hammer and a really nice beaverton, iykyk.

Im very happy with this trade.

I was fondling it today and giving it a going over. It really shows no signs of wear. It is a used gun but like new. Whoever had it I think did a trigger job on it, its super light. Some reviewers of it said trigger pull was 4 to 5 lbs, i dont feel that. Ammo is reasonable, I picked up a bulk box of 150 rounds of federal fmj brass case for $64.

Greg, a gunsmith friend I made when I bought my first.45 Springfield, a pretty straight A1, taught me a lot. As a newer shooter he adjusted the springs to lighten the trigger to the 4 lb range which he recommended as I was new to the 45. But more, he adjusted another spring (it’s an assembly of 3 flat springs attached at the base) that took up the trigger slack. It became smooth and crisp. He then added a few of the nicer parts like yours comes with. Made it a very reliable shooter. Oh, he recommended the shock buff that goes on the return rod behind the recoil spring.

You may have known all of this but I became very passionate about 1911s.
