I believe this is called beta testing and everything will be OK in a couple of days. The admin and moderators are doing the best job they can.
Also love the look of new site but just need to adopt to new stuff. Hope this old horse can learn a few more tricks. :):)
one question, why i dont have any trophies?
 
Is the site slow? More specifically, when you type does your fingers get ahead of what you're typing? You peckers will not notice but us who type fairly fast - the site has slowed to the point where my fingers are faster than the letters showing up in the text field. And I'm not THAT fast. We are already using 90% of our disk space, so I'm going to have to have our hosting company move us to a faster server. They say it will be 10X faster, and will only have to shut us down for 10 to 15 minutes for the move. I'm not going to do it for a couple of days though so we can all get our feet under us a little better. I'm probably stay up and do it at around 2 in the morning so it won't affect 99% of you. They have 24 hour support and said I could do it anytime I want.

Anyone else having speed issues?

It better be oK or we will end up with the damned congress in here and then we really will be screwed.............:mad::mad::mad:
 
Just want to be clear that I'm not complaining - just pointing out stuff that I see as I'm trying to do things.

As a developer I fully understand the concept of working things out as you go :)

so far my speeds are good both on the computer and on my phone. aside from the message bug I was experiencing I am all smooth sailing now.

Nope, Even with my speed typing I can't get ahead of it. :):)

I tried typing fast with two fingers but just cant type that fast.:)
No problem with speed here. Everything works fine in Europe.
Is it possible to add more smilies. Miss the one with a chain saw

I can type really fast with all ten- just cannot read one word of it!!!!!
 
I am considering leaving the smilies as they are. there is going to be a smilie limit anyway and we have to start finding ways to cut down on bandwidth where we can without cutting out stuff we really need.

I think the smilies are cool but if there are widgets available that can really separate us from the other forums out there I think the trade off will be well worth it! I can live with out the smilies in exchange for some other cool stuff ;)

While bigger pictures are nice, is there a way to put thumbnails in posts that link to the bigger pictures? A lot of the time the thumbnail (if it's a reasonable size) conveys the point. Having it link to the bigger picture allows a person to look at the detail but that should do a lot to cut down on the bandwidth.

I should resize that picture I just posted. It doesn't need to be that large to be read and the humor derived - but it's "costly" to show every time someone brings this thread up.
 
Yes Ken I am going to set thumbnails as the default - just been busy as whack trying to get everything else done .
 
Clearly lots of time, effort, and expense going into this, Wizard... how can I make a contribution (needa to be a $ contribution, since any others I'd make would probably move the forum backwards)?

I don't know what happened to the donate button guys - thanks for thinking about it - I have spent everyone's money on this. I have a plan for revenue though so don't worry the lights will not be turned off suddenly. It will take a little while to implement it but I think everyone is going to like it. ;)
 
Has anyone figured out how to delete alerts? I have 5 or six pages of them . . . . .

Damn this type is slow I have to wait for the text to catch up like molasses . . .
