ALL QUESTIONS & COMMENTS REGARDING NEW SOFTWARE GO HERE

Paul - look through your browser settings... many now have a way to adjust settings by site. For example, I use Boat Browser on my android tablet. Boat has "Page Content Settings", were I can adjust many settings that only impact that particular domain, including text scaling and default zoom - which I have done because the font on WB is too small for my aging eyes, too. The settings "stick" for WB as I come and go, but don't impact the settings for any other site.

Tested again... default zoom (far, medium, close) is page/domain specific, but text scaling seems to carry to some others (but not all). I suspect it depends on how the site and browser communicate optimization to each other.

hmm. mine just adjusts page by page. Different strokes.

Barb - Your own posts don't show in the new posts. Even in the old software your own posts did not mark as an unread thread or post. I think it assumes you read the post you typed (Unlike some of us...)

Okay thanks for clearing me up on that. I'm working on it but may not get it fixed right away . . . . .

Kevin - Take a look at my settings. Watch and unwatch work perfectly for me. I didn't see an option for watching threads or not. There are a lot of corners to look in though

They work perfectly for me too. The watch/unwatch thread is at the top right of each open thread.

unwatch.webp

But if they aren't working for some or even one, gotta try to figure it out. I'm thinking it's a browser issue or OS issue but since we don't know I guess we need to treat it as though it's our software. Is anyone beside Paul having this issue?

AHA ... got it now. I was getting at an "unwatch" through the "more options" button, which is what doesn't work. Thanks.

Now if you could just get rid of those tiny fonts

Paul I am sure you could pick up a pair of cheap readers at walgreens to help with the small font.

I already wear prescription glasses. Why does everyone want the forum's tiny fonts to be MY problem? Why not just use bigger fonts?

Paul calm down man it was just a joke. No body is picking on you. The font is likely a default setting and nothing that anybody is doing to make your life miserable. It may be able to be switched it may not. Im sure if it can be switched Kevin or one of the mods will do what they can to make it better.

I used the recommend on Facebook function this morning and it got to my FB Page but with no Pix.... Is this something we can expect to happen or will that be able to be worked on?

Does this prev response from Kevin help?
Butch, once you make a post you have already seen it, so not considered a new post by the software. There's a Recent Posts top right though. I've got that on the list to be moved to the Nav bar next to New Posts though to make it more convenient for us.

.....Butch, once you make a post you have already seen it, so not considered a new post by the software."

This does not make sense to me. When I post to a thread, does it show up as a "new post" to all other users? But not to me because I have already seen it? If nothing else, I use my posts as a sort of "timestamp", and that is useful to me. Further, I think that I should check in the mornings what I wrote last night...(just an age thing), and while I can do that by searching, it was better the other way.

While I really like having the banner/strapline (the Forums/Members one) fixed at the top of the screen, I've noticed that it has side effects in a couple of places.

(1) clicking the "take me to the first unread post in this thread" button -- it takes me there, but the first couple of lines are obscured by the banner/strap;

(2) similar thing when I click to go to one of the sub-sections of the forum list from inside a thread -- the gray line under the Woodbarter banner says "Forums > Woodturning > General Woodturning Discussion". Click on "Woodturning", and it takes me to that section of the Forums index -- or it would, if the static strapline wasn't covering the top half inch of the screen.

I think there were a couple more places on the site where this happens to me. FWIW ... I encountered the exact same problem when I built a website with a static banner area at the top of the page -- hrefs to an anchor within the page used the 0,0 co-ordinate of the entire screen and I had to code a fixed scroll amount to get the display how I wanted it to be.

I'm trying not to be a pain, I really am. Am I the only one that cant find the "recent posts" in the "top Right"? Top right where? Under my profile/avatar? There is no recent posts anywhere that I can find.

To reiterate - New Posts shows the "new posts" that have been made in the threads you have either been involved in since you last logged in (or were active) or that you have subscribed to whether you posted in them or not.

RECENT POSTS allows you to see the the most RECENT POSTS ON THE FORUM SINCE YOU HAVE LOGGED IN, whether or not you are involved in them or have subscribed to them. So by using Recent Posts you can see threads you are involved in but do not show up in New Posts (because they are no new posts since you saw the thread or made a post yourself and the software assumes if you wrote, you must have seen it) and also the threads you are not involved in. I'll try to summarize it:

New Posts - shows threads that hve posts that have been made since you last logged in, but only in threads you have posted in or are subscribed to
Recent Posts - shows all recent threads that have new postings whether or not you are involved in them or subscribed.

At least this is my understanding. But as I previously said I've had my head under this hood so long now I am learning new stuff about it all the time. I reserve the right to be wrong - temporarily.
