Trying to find a match for pvwoodwork - we are talking Texas ebony off forum.

Any of these strike your fancy? Nice 1 x 4.5 x 35 katalox, rough 1 x 4.5 x 24 Koa pair, or 4.5 square x 2.5+ blank of a fully dry and basically impossible to buy leadwood.

Still working away...pvwoodwork says burl pen blanks instead, so here are some burl pen blanks. Against.the.grain, will post weird stuff for you late tonight.

Fifteen burl blanks are as follows: stabilized black ash, amboyna, stab. Redwood, red mallee, afzelia xylay, yellow box, stab. Maple, afzelia, coolibah, chakte viga (personal favorite), York gum, Logwood (dye wood, neat), Chechen, thuya, brown mallee.

Five others, just because I ran out of burls: curly Koa, tambootie, camelthorn, bridal veil tree, Mexican kingwood.

Let me know if that works.

And for against.the.grain...what I hear is off the beaten path stuff with 3 x 1.625 square. Left to right, these are bridal veil tree (smallest at 4.25 x 1.5" sq, not cracked even though planer chatter looks it), east Indian satinwood (awesome when polished up - rough sanded here), mango, Chechen burl (clean section is 2.75" long w edge that should turn in to give you 3"), Jamaican dogwood (awesome curl), granite box burl, wild African olive (this really a throw in bc it smells good - has some cracking).

Give me some feedback and let me know if this works - bit of a shot in the dark, here.

that's Chechen. Yes, I do have more. What are you looking for?

I have some small cutoffs / scraps suitable for casting. Mixed w other material, but shouldn't be a big deal to get at. Might be a mfrb, probably less.

I have a nice squared off burl buried away...not sure exact size, but maybe 7-8" cubed. No caps in the sense of thin material.

Might have a clean-ish spindle or two in the stack.

That's about it. Any of that help you?

and then, must've done a better job not wasting material than usual or something, but not enough scraps to fill a mfrb. Here's what I have - just little bits really. Burls are CA Lilac, Chechen, chakte viga, Logwood, yellow box, eucalyptus, granite box, sapote (you might expect red, but that's heartwood - burl is in sapwood, which is light).

logging details...

Worked out trade w Bubby. Large flat rate box of Chechen pictured above for five of his burl blanks.

Here's some pictures of the pieces that I'm sending Brian. One piece wasn't delivered to me, so I sent along some other pieces. Speckled black pheasant, bocote, another Asian Satin burl, spalted water oak, Shedua, Cocobolo and another Velvet tamarind burl.

Sorry for not having the root burl bud!

Thanks again for the trade!

I received my package from Brian. It was a very nice surprise as the figure and quality were better than the pictures showed.
