American smoketree (Cotinus obovatus)

Here are some more photos. There are quite a few little nubs on the sides. Much lighter weight than black Locust, and this wood does not fluoresce under uv light.

That cleaned portion reminds me of Scholar tree. Your UV black light discounts the locust group. So that helps. However, it also discounts Cotinous....

 
Density is 19 lb/ft3, based on a piece 3 x 20.5 x 1.5 This is very dry from being stored at 40% humidity so the moisture content is about 6-8% at most.
