Curious if anyone can describe why they like or dislike using pneumatic drum sanders. I have an option of picking one up for free from a friend. But it is a large dedicated tool with dual drums. Quality machine but I’m not sure what I’d use it for. Big foot print for the shop and If I won’t use it, then I don’t want to take it and would rather see it go to another friend.

They're very popular for compound curved pieces such as cabriole legs and such. I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to own one but all depends on the type of work you do.

I've had one for years, get tool! On the right side, there is a 4" pneumatic drum, on the let is a 6" wide brush sander. for sanding contours and odd shaped piece, it's hard to beat. Just be aware, the these things are pretty impressive sawdust creators, so have some kind of a dust collector set up.
The brand name of mine is "Sand Rite".
