April’s challenge is simple and wide open to your interpretation.

The only requirement is that you turn a lidded box.

Big or small. Plain or embellished. Pine or exotic wood. You just need to turn a box with a lid.

1. Deadline is May 17 so that everyone has the full weekend to add any final touches.

2. Only one official entry per person that will be voted upon, but there’s a way to get extra votes. See rule #6.

3. Post picture(s) in this thread.

4. Discussion, tips, general heckling, etc should all be posted here. If you know if videos, tutorials, ect pertaining to the challenge, post here, it will help everybody.

5. After the deadline, I'll put together a poll with all the entries and voting will run for a week. The winner will then get the honor of choosing the next challenge and we start again.

6. VOTING: Here’s where it gets interesting. Voting by our members will proceed as normal. However, if you turn a “Beads of Courage” box and donate it, you will receive one extra vote. Turn two boxes, picture and donate them both, you get two extra votes. 3 boxes = 3 extra votes, etc. The more “Beads of Courage” boxes you make, the greater the likelihood winning the contest.

Let’s get those boxes on the lathe!

Good call on the timing. I’m in Hawaii right now on island time, so really wasn’t paying attention to the dates. Let’s extend it to Sunday 5/17 to give everyone enough time for hopefully multiple boxes.

Do the boxes have to turned on lathe?
Can boxes be square, rectangular, Octagon, band sawed, etc, to include everyone on Wood Barter?

While these are technically turning challenges, I think in this case and in the spirit of our Wood Barter community it makes sense to open it up to any non-turned box that is made for, donated to, and accepted by the Beads of Courage organization.
