I have quite a bit of ash 3 x 3 that I cut to make some handles a couple of years ago. My handles are done so I am using some for other projects. Ash is not real fancy looking wood but this piece had a little brown heartwood for contrast.

That's a nice mill, Dave -- it looks like there's a little figure (curl) in the wood too, but that might be reflections from the ripples in the glass.

Definitely influenced by sawbones, I flip flop like I'm running for president on my mill shapes. I like them like this with clean lines but sometimes a little bead or a cove just feels rite. Saw a picture of one recently in the shape of a wine bottle, looked cool but not sure how functional it was. Seems like the small top would be a PITA.

I scrounged around the shop and found enough stuff to build myself a steady rest last week, makes the whole pepper mill process much easier for me. Takes a few extra minuets to put it on the lathe and adjust it but after that every thing seems to go better with greater accuracy.
That's sweet! I like the slight round on the top... Might have to borrow that at some point.
