The green coloring is awesome, if it’s real!Started looking into some Asian dealers from Instagram. I know there are plenty of scammers on there, but one was recommended to me by a trusted friend. Like all the others, this for guy sells curly black avocado. Is this stuff real.

Yeah i have heard mixed things. Some say it's a really rare avocado. Others say it's dyed and not even avocado at all.The green coloring is awesome, if it’s real!
Yeah i also thought the size was kind of absurd for avocadoAfter working with many different kinds of Avocado trees here in Hawaii, this does not look like Avocado to me. I have never seen curly Avocado too. Aloha.

I had an Avocado tree in my yard when I lived in Hawaii, and the trunk was about a 10"-12" diameter. ChuckYeah i also thought the size was kind of absurd for avocado
Really? Why do you never see avocado wood on anything other than turning blanks? I've never seen 4/4, 8/4, etc. This piece pictured above would have to come from a tree much larger than 12" given it's dimensions. It seems unrealistic, especially since these sellers have tons of this stuff in huge boards.I had an Avocado tree in my yard when I lived in Hawaii, and the trunk was about a 10"-12" diameter. Chuck
Probably the tropical nature of Hawaii. @Kalai has probably seen them even bigger.Really? Why do you never see avocado wood on anything other than turning blanks? I have milled one that was just over 2 feet in dia. when you first cut avocado it is white, it will spault nicely given time. It is also a soft wood, not very hard. Aloha.Probably the tropical nature of Hawaii. @Kalai has probably seen them even bigger.
Guess i was mistaken. I'm still curious why i don't see bigger pieces of it for sale. Is it that soft that its just not desirable?I have milled one that was just over 2 feet in dia. when you first cut avocado it is white, it will spault nicely given time. Kind of like other fruit trees, many are grown for the fruit. So they are prunned, kept short to make the process easier and cheaper. See the same thing with orange trees. Growers sooner bull-doze and burn them than sell the wood.Guess i was mistaken. I'm still curious why i don't see bigger pieces of it for sale. Is it that soft that its just not desirable?
Makes sense. At least citrus wood is bland and somewhat boring. Avocado tends to have some character from what I've seen!Kind of like other fruit trees, many are grown for the fruit.
