Completed a 6” Black Cherry bowl from a blank that was given to me by a friend in Northern Pennsylvania. Actually started it a number of years ago, and if I recall, it flew off the lathe and broke. The original size was probably about an 12” round. I was pretty discouraged as I thought the wood was quite handsome! I set it aside for a number of years, and finally pulled it back out to make something from it. Trying to preserve as much of the wood as possible, the side kind of took on a shape of its own. Of course, turning Cherry is delightful, and the sawdust has a great fragrance. Easy to sand. I finished the bowl with 7 coats of Wipe-on Poly Gloss, followed by 3 coats of Renaissance Wax. Took the pics in the bright sun, so there is a bit of glare on the surface. Chuck
