Picked up some pretty streaky, red Box Elder off of Facebook marketplace and experimented with a few new techniques. Does this form have an official name? Also, taking any name suggestions for the piece itself.

Connor, that piece looks like what the June July challenge is asking for. I think you posted this about a month early, or maybe change the title of this post to "My entry for the Scottish Quaich challenge" and you are done.

Nice job and the wood is nice. It looks a lot like Palo Verde with the exception of the red color and quilting.

Advice you are asking for would to remove some of that flat up to the rim you see in the first picture. That would allow the Scotts/Scotch/Scottish? to be able to drink out of it.

Again, nice piece and you deserve any and all accolades you receive here for a job well done. .......... Jerry (in Tucson)
 
Really beautiful piece! I would call it Comet.
