Boxwood (Castello?) to process

I have these first two boxwood logs that I am planning to mill down. I believe they are Castello Boxwood.

@Mike Hill asked for an update on this, so I’ll give him the first pass at any requests for specific parts/pieces. There’s some interesting organic shapes to work with, but I’m happy to divide or section this however looks fun for you.

I can cut the log(s) simply to shorter lengths or sections, or I can take them to a more processed state after squaring 2 sides and starting to divide or resaw.

As far as pricing, this is where it gets weird for me… there’s not much for me to reference so I’m going to take a bit of a stab in the dark. I won’t be offended if you tell me I’m off base.

Unprocessed, let’s say $40 per 10” + shippi
I’m not sure if that’s the best way to price it.

If you’d like me to get a flat side or square up 2 sides to get an idea of what’s in store for you, we can work out another price system.

A couple of photos to start - let me know what’s interesting and I’ll get some better ones:
 
Looks like a nice section of castello boxwood. I recently developed an interest in boxwood. Buxus sempervirens is generally sold by the pound and most logs don't clear the 5 inch mark. Any buxus sempervirens in the size shown would be priced like precious metals.
Even castello isn't cheap.

Some German sources are alright but would be very annoying to aquire from in the US.
 
Did not notice that back in April. I don't even remember what I wanted boxwood for. I think it was for some tool handles. So I'll get in line behind Frank.

My apologies, I wasn't trying to start a purchase. I have just dragged myself down the "boxwood" information rabbit hole . I currently don't have extra dollars to use toward acquiring boxwood to fill said rabbit hole.

If either of the logs is (further!) squared or cut flat, I'm potentially interested in any larger cutoffs if available.
Best case scenaerio: There are one or more cutoffs ~10" + long with natural edges, and close to 3/4" or 1" thick somewhere along the length, even if it tapers to a point on the far side. (Have a couple of projects in mind...). No pressure, though! Just a fan of boxwood wood and any natural edges some folks might scrap.

I’ll absolutely keep this in mind when making cuts to square up any stock!

No worries! This thread was originally started as an offshoot of one that I made asking questions about boxwood also. Always good to renew the discussion and possibly learn more, so thank you!

Was that the one about very fine grained woods for knives? Like a kitchen knife?
