Howdy, all. I cut up and de-barked (left the cambium on though) some Boxwood (proper Buxus sempervirens) after two years of hang-drying in my old tobacco barn. Lost a lot to spalting, not your pretty stuff, nasty aggressive stuff that moved within a month. On the bright side, I garnered around 3 lbs. of roughly 4" x 6" heartwood cores without squaring them yet. See attached photos. Not big enough to do any instrument work, but I was contemplating knife handles, pens, etc. They're all IQ grade save for the browned piece. Looking forward to any ideas! I'll be MIA for a couple of days so it'll be nice to have a small project lined up when I'm back.
