Hi Grant, the Hawaiian tallow came from
https://kamuelahardwoods.com/wood-species/ You can see how they describe it if you scroll down to Tallow on this page. I've assumed that it is Eucalyptus microcorys. The piece I have is heavy and hard and has some waves to it. Dimensions are 1 5/16" x 1 7/8" x 6 1/4".
The wood on the far right is Canjerana/Cancharana (Cabralea Oblongifoliola) from Argentina. It has a rich brown nice color. Its not that heavy - and only medium hard. The piece has straight grain. 1" x 1 1/16" x 7 1/4"
The sweetbay is quite hard and heavy. Much harder and heavier than the southern magnolia for sure. Maybe because its heartwood from the center of the tree near the pith. It has a little pinkish color to it. The piece is 1 3/8 x 1 7/8" x 5 11/16". Its the only piece in the lot that is not quite 6". Believe it or not, the sweetbay piece feels as hard and heavy as the tallow.
Here are the names of all the pieces in the picture:
