Catalpa box with Juniper lid

2 x 2. Catalpa box painted with gold and brown paint sticks. Center part textured and lines burned. Fun little practice piece.

I think I'll trash the box and use the lid on another project. It's too nice for this one!

Did you have any trouble turning catalpa? I recently rough turned a block of green wood and found it to be terribly stringy and prone to tearout. Just wondering if you had any tricks up your sleeve.

Catalpa is indeed tear out prone! Nice box, Phil.

Yes. It was a pain in the ass to turn and texture. Super soft.
