Looking for a bowl blank 8 x 8 x 3 (or larger) and a spindle blank 1.5 x 1.5 x 18 (or larger). Split log or chunk would work - doesn’t need to be cut and milled into perfect blanks.

Hi @Mike1950 sorry about my confusion, so is what you have Siberian Elm burl or Chinese Elm burl (ulmus parvifolia)?

No idea. I got it as burled slabs. I have had siberean and American elm burl. This is more like American but burl is not a viable way to ID so it is elm.

Hi @Mike1950 Thank you, but what I really want is the Chinese Elm (ulmus parvifolia) so I am going to pass on your burl and hope someone else has Chinese Elm to offer up. Thanks!

when i look up chinese elm, it has a distinctive bark,
the very few "chinese elm" burl pieces on the internet, clearly have a bark of some other elm species.
appears to me just from a quick search that you may find it exceedingly difficult to find an actual ulmus parvifolia burl
cooks woods has lace bark elm (ulmus parvifolia) turning blocks but no burl
also as a non native landscape decorative tree there may be very few being cut to harvest burls from if they existed

From my limited search it looks like Chinese and Drake elm are one and the same. Very dense wood with smooth bark. IMG_0743.jpeg

Truly a masterpiece slab! Can’t wait to see what @Arn213 does with his magic computer skills to this mighty slab! Chuck
Well, it took me awhile to see this, but your “wish is at my command” Chuck @Nature Man. The book-match comes with a self portrait of “Rocketman Racoon” lounging with his paws out. @Mike1950 - why do you hold out such pretty burly things from us? I want a slice of that sausage topping.

Thanks! Totally does it justice! I’m thinking the raccoon looks like a fox. And then there’s the boogeyman at the bottom! Chuck

You are right it also looks like a fox, but it probably will look like another furry animal for some people- perhaps it a hybrid of a “fox-coon-boogeyman”:sarcastic:……..sounds like it would be a great military pilot call sign.
