Mike, I was more interested in how the coloration would look, but for $10 that sounds good- if it isn't what I think its no biggie. Ill take it and the other blanks mentioned.
Other box just came back to my PO. If you do not mind I will just ship them all at once.

I am in no big rush but for sure give me a shout when you have more to sell. Honestly I can even use shorties 3/4" square x 2.5-3" long

Always good to buy it from a reliable/trusted source knowing how old /seasoned it is, high quality, that is not wax and trust that it is what it is! The price is also fair market price. “Know where you buy your wood from”. Amboyna is just a really beautiful dense burl with a pretty smelling aroma- forget veneered panels on the RR.......I am thinking veneering the powder room to make users forget the ugly old fixtures and cut the smell down because the old vent doesn’t work as well😅

You folks know the burl market (how many species they are), you can’t smell through your computer screen and I am personally weary buying it in wax form (yes, I know it is somewhat standard practice) because it hides a multitude of sins. Thank goodness though there is a giveaway and particular aroma to amboyna other burl do not posses. But, like I said you can’t smell it through your computer screen and you have to put your complete trust in the vendor- thank goodness, we have @Mike1950.............I have you down brethren for a reputable and quality source for this and other species. This you have listed are exceptionally beautiful!

These came with wax on them. Been in country for 2 decades. I remove the wax. It did its job. Reduced cracks + turned black thus reducing buyers. Probably only reason they were still available. And yes. Wonderful smell.

They usually are waxed covered because they are either still wet and help prevents from checking, quickly drying out. I see a lot of dimensional smaller size burls waxed- just don’t feel confident it is what it is and you really have to either buy it from a trusted source that carries a bulk of it. I hate to find out that it is not “amboyna burl” and it is some hard/dense burl (like a lot of Australian burls)- a lot of burls do look a like and like deciphering through species of rosewood in photo’s to tell which one really is Brazilian rosewood......most of the time the aroma is a dead give away of what it is (only if it is pertinent). The smell of amboyna burl is the only dead give away what it really is not replicable. I won’t buy wax form amboyna burl period. I need it in unwaxed state, so when I get a whiff of its aroma- I know that is what it is. Yes, I know even in wax form the aroma telegraphs too. I just don’t want to cast a doubt something that is wax that I paid good money for that they say it is amboyna having bought a bulk of it, stored away for a rainy day- then one day I work on removing the wax and cutting through it to find out it is not what it is. I am sure some folks here have experience like that (not just on amboyna, but other species as well). So always buy from a reputable and reliable source.

2 sellers on eBay Film 1 and mikey something are selling waxed red mallee as amboyna.
I can look at it and tell. After 20 years there was nothing to smell on these. I use very little AS. Most do not want. They are going to stabilize.. maple it is a waste. I go straight from mill to kiln with maple.

Well Mike- you hit on the nail! Some people I know have gotten screwed- I mean big time. That one guy buys from that other guy. It causes a “ripple effect” because someone now has bought it and they use what they need, then they put out what is left to sell. Why is there wax on Brazilian rosewood? No one ever does that and I have never ever seen that application on raw Braz. rosewood. Caveat emptor! Again, buy from a reputable and reliable source- when in doubt, buy a small piece and when you get it, compare it with a checked out sample in your wood library and cut the end of it to check the aroma, then get a loupe to ID the end grain.

For sure, it has been really become more difficult to trust the source that you buy woods from- it shouldn’t be that way and they make it tougher when they play “word games” with the wood common names. Botanical names should be legally required. Be aware when buying woods that are identical to other woods.

*Addendum- the thing is that they keep the cycle going over and over with not enough people report it and the negative gets swept away miraculously. What happens to buyer protection and I feel so bad to those who have them as their favorite seller($) that have amassed a collection.

I agree with most that you say but---- "Botanical names should be legally required" 1. how do you do this?" 2 how do you verify ? what I have been posting is borneo padauk amboyna. but I have no proof- other than my nose and my eyes. all of this comes from part of world- hold it no offense- I am not PC- but honesty vs $$$ $$$$ wins. and I cannot blame them. They feed their families this way. they cut- pack out of forest- hopefully avoid poisonous snakes and sell for maybe 2-3 bucks a pound. Maybe. If amboyna vs whatever nets then $.50 a pound you cannot blame them. nothing has changed in last 100 years. Buyer beware and be informed.

@Mike1950 we need to discuss this on another thread as it will end up side tracking your for sale post here. I’ll touch upon this very slightly. Those at the other side of the world work their a$$es of so they can live and take care of their family- which I completely for and agree with. But loggers and exporters should take responsibility and accountability when they sell their wood commercially- it starts with them and the resources is available to them to have the species identified by a professional outfit.

First I never care about my thread being derailed. 2nd. I think your ID idea may look good on paper but will not work in real life. 10,000 commercially viable species and 40,000 obscure. Would the person in the whole world please raise their hand that can do this!!! And 3rd world country- 1/3 of the people in world make less than $10 a day. How are we going to enforce then selling un-named wood. It ain't happening . JMO as always. And would it change the low life scumbags that change name to get more money-NO

If that's the case I'll take 1-5 please. PM me the total and I'll get you paid. Thank you.

Bill
I looked back- you asked how long. you did not commit to buy. If no one answers by day end- when I get back from mill they are yours. 24 hours + is enough time to answer.

I think you should have been first.
