VERY cool Barry. Great job on all the components and I like the wood selection and variety that really shows off the pieces nicely. The carving is really awesome.

I love it! I remember gathering a bunch of pieces for you and that one in particular.( it came from the center of a big crotch piece)

July 31 - end of challenge! We had a brief discussion in the beginning and most folks wanted to make it two months so I ran it from June 1 - July 31. Out of 8 guys who joined, we have 3 entries and 4 guys who haven't said squat yet. I guess if those 4 are close to having an entry ready we can hold off voting for a couple days. But if you're not close, haven't even started, don't expect to start, etc. I'll close it and set up the voting thing. Respond quickly please.

that is as close as I got before a 14th daily emergency shut me down. The wife wanted an "abstract art" piece. I wanted to do a lamp. She won.Walnut chunk (from a rootball in a customers yard) for a base, center turned piece is a sumac chunk (from my Dad's fence row), top is a spalted chunk of maple (from a root / stump intersection from a customer removal).
I am not home to finish sanding and clear coating the pieces. I only posted this as proof that I hadn't completely wimped out. Just tried to cram too many projects in my life.
I know we were all hoping to discover that @Mike Hill could do something with his wood other than admire and play with it, but alas.

Barry - you should make another one of these, drill holes in the bottom and add some lead for weight. They'd make a really cool set of book ends.
