I'm glad my lathes were non operable until last weekend. After I got one fixed, I tried to start on my project, and I felt like I was like a beginner.
When @DLJeffs started this challenge, my plan was very clear, but when I started it back in early June, the new Nova lathe I have started giving me on/off issues. Sent the parts in to Nova, and have not heard back from them until last Tuesday, 4 days after getting my Powermatic working.
Then, on Tuesday, @barry richardson posted his entry. Well hell I said, "there's always tomorrow". So, my project is gonna sit in the shop almost started and one day I might get it done. .................. Nubs

Can't nobody do any worse than third place in this contest... Pretty good as long as you tell the part where your contest was on a site with 100 plus woodworkers....

Sure! Ooooohhh, too late, just closed 14 minutes ago. Sorry.
I had hopes of more entries when we started this one but life got in the way I guess. But the three entries we did get were spectacular each in their own way and each with their own back story. Thank you to Jason, Phil and Barry for joining in. We got 27 votes total and I suppose you already know Barry ran away with this one. The turned rock and flatwork mountain were nice but the carved walnut Sisyphus was something we don't see very often. Well done Barry.
So I guess it's now my duty to hand over the Monthly Turning Challenge Crown and Scepter to Mr. Richardson. I'm sure Barry's imagination will come up with something both inviting and challenging for all you wood spinners. Until next time.... via con Dios amigos.

Great job Doug! I know you are dedicated member of the WB family (as non- wood turner) and thanks for taking it on and seeing it through to the finish.

Thanks for the honor! I'm thinking I'm going to delay the next challenge for a couple of months, summer is a busy time for everyone, maybe in the fall we can bet better participation, is this OK with everyone?

I don't have any problem with the delay, I haven't even seen my lathe since April and the next few weeks are going to be busy with garden harvest and just trying to keep up with life.
