A zero clearance insert is a must. They are relatively inexpensive for the craftsman saws. I had a couple of them for my saw.

Yes, it’s on the list!

I’d like to get a riving knife instead of the splitter as well, but it doesn’t look like there is one that works with this particular saw. Any suggestions on that?

As far as I know a splitter is your only option on that saw.

Blue painters tape can turn your current insert into a cheapo zero clearance until you get or make the real thing. The only real downside is a very limited lifespan before it begins to peel up - but for temporary purposes it works a treat

There also a product called zero clearance tape that I’ve used on my miter saw. It actually works quite well and I’ve been very pleased with it. That said, I’m not sure how well it will work on a table saw given that you’re constantly sliding the wood across it vs. just sitting the wood on top of it as with the miter saw.

Where do you buy the zero clearance tape?
