This build is from Woodsmith #168. After going back and forth on the plans, I decided to give it a try, as it deviates significantly from my design I usually work with. It was time for me to learn something new. The project is constructed from a stash of sawmill white oak that I have, along with some nice pieces of tiger-striped maple that my son gifted me a few years ago.
I really enjoyed using the frame and panel construction, as well as the author's method for incorporating adjustability into the wooden slide construction. I plan to use both techniques more in my future projects. For my next piece, I also intend to implement hand-cut dovetails in the case construction; I just need to organize my thoughts on providing end-grain at the panel edges.
This one resides on my bench, at least for a while ....

Sounds like a great build and a solid way to push yourself a bit. White oak with that tiger maple has to look fantastic together. Frame and panel plus adjustable wooden slides is a nice combo to have in your back pocket too. Curious to see how you tackle the dovetails on the next one figuring out the end grain at the panel edges is a fun challenge.
 
Beautiful wood and use of it.
I built 2 using M&T with panels. Different but a fun build. One oak and one walnut. I gave son choice and the brat took the walnut. I use it as my drill bit box.

The current plan is to build a panel and rip the desired boards at 90 degrees to the grain. It is yet to be determined if they will stay together during cutting/chiseling the dovetails, tapping, fitting etc.

You can’t say anything when you offer a choice.

Gorgeous work. Just to keep you honest, let’s see the walnut one. Just in case someone might wants to build one and can’t decide on what wood to use.

I knew he would take the walnut one- I like to kid him- I tell him I am going to take it back- he is 46- he laughs- and says I have a safe full of guns also dad. :lol2:
 
We have great relationship. just humor.
I just got New computer, and by golly Microsoft one drive helped me out by removing all my labels, probably because wife passed on letting them put on cloud... she will fix but... grrrrr. I will get Joe to send Pic.
I thought they were in classroom but appears through the years stuff has been deleted or....

Mike, I made a copy off of OneDrive onto my C:\ drive and I run an app to sync any new files weekly ... just ain't warm & fuzzy about my pictures only floating out in space...
 
Boss woman will not use cloud. IBM trained -started in 72. She is my in house tech. Why? I know they "promise" nobody can access but you. But so did 23 and me? Promise DNA would be forever safe and it was until somebody offered them big dollars... And it does not help that she hates microsoft...
