Cremation urn, First one, just finished

A few weeks ago, I was asking questions on here about urns for cremains. Thanks to the input from several, here's my version.
Materials used are purpleheart, walnut, Royal Camo, SpectraPly...

What was your solution for sealing? Threaded or let the buyer glue shut?

After talking to the funeral directorwho commissioned the urn, we decided to go with friction fit lid. I used a 5 degree taper to give a good fit. I'm still looking for some sort of brass fitting that could be epoxied in place, but so far no luck

That would be perfect, if there were a flat brass plate that would screw into the female threaded part......

Why dont you just groove the lid about 3/8 deep and epoxy the threaded basket portion into that. Have to cut the top and clean up the bottom cut to make it smooth

Also Grainger has a decently priced brass drain assembly. For about 28 to 30 bucks.

Even though this is a 5 year old thread, here is another source from a thread on AAW.

Those are 3D printed even though they say wood fiber polymer inserts.

There are evidently many on ETSY selling some as well and someone said Woodcraft are carrying some too.
