Crosses - See Through - Batch #2

Just completed the second batch of 12 “see through“ crosses for my wife. Three species here: Live Oak, Pecan, and Koa. Finish is 2 coats of Mahoney’s Walnut Oil. She gave away the first batch that I made a few months ago, and they went like pancakes! They are a bit time consuming to make, so I told her only one batch per year. In this batch I experimented with cutting around the crosses vs using a router bit. Think cutting is safer. I will have to use a finer blade for the interior cross in the future, as I was experiencing chip outs this go around. But all in all the end result was fine. Finally, I like this project as it uses small pieces of scrap lumber which I otherwise tend to accumulate. Chuck

A very nice way to use scraps. I might have to get back to making pendants. (I didn’t make crosses though I think I will experiment in future) all in all it is a project worth making. Yours are particularly good.

Chuck, if you were to track down a source for a Rockwell Delta 43-503 pin router, you could produce thousands of those beautiful crosses in a couple days. Then, relax and either sell or pass them out as you see fit. If you did it right, the inner cross that is removed could also be a gift if you chose not to cut it up when routing.
I'm gonna post a few pictures of stuff I've done with mine years ago that I still have prototypes of. ............... Nubs

Then, relax and either sell or pass them out as you see fit. If you did it right, the inner cross that is removed could also be a gift if you chose not to cut it up when routing.
