A lot of us have moisture testers but does anyone out there have a durometer? It looks like it would be very useful when trying to identify mysterious pieces of wood.
I used to have a durometer available to use in the printing pressrooms to measure the hardness of rubber rollers. I still visit pressrooms almost daily but haven't seen a durometer in use in a couple of decades.
What type of durometer would you use for measuring the hardness of wood? I dont think that the ones that I am familiar with would work for wood?
A Shore-D durometer is needed due to the hardness of wood. You can find them on Amazon and other websites. They are sold to help with wood identification.
For those that don’t know what a durometer is, it’s a hardness meter. Knowing where the mystery wood ranks on the Janka scale would help with identification.
It’s also answer for is there anything you would like for Christmas.
