Got 2 1 x 6 x 10'boards out of the last batch. Not sure what maple it is, maybe silver maple.
Always looking for different dry turning stock to swap.

Mike, was it something you had cut yourself or purchased at a local mill? Is it possibly a "flame birch" versus a maple?

It was purchased at a local mill. In the old days I had standing order for figured wood and the graders took very good care of me.
Pics look a little yellow but wood is very white and light . I'd be very surprised if it wasn't a maple

Mike,

I am very interested in the wood you posted. I have PM'ed you also. I fall very short on having any special wood in 12/4. I have some green "Ambrosia soft maple" and some "False ambrosia" soft maple in 8/4, 10/4, 12/4 up t0 20/4. Some is lightly curly, most is not. But it is still very green. I have some "Bradford pear" in 10/4 and a little in 12/4 or more, dried 1 year, so likely still drying.

As for dry, I have a few 8/4 short sticks of "olive grained white ash" and a few 6/4- 12/4 short sticks of "curly ambrosia soft maple".

I am not in need of it all and am very willing to work with others here if they meet your needs in trade and are willing to work with me. I would consider outright purchase also. Thank you for your time.

Birch came to mind when I first saw it but whatever it is it is very unique.

I've added a couple 1 x 6 x 8' curly cherry to the deal to sweeten the pot with Jay.
If anyone else might be interested in curly cherry let me know IMG_0390.webp

If those maple had been longer I would have jumped on it. Love the curly cherry and after I get another chainsaw to cut up blanks I will try to jump on some of these trades. Puurty stuff.
