just stumbled on a bunch of pods like this the other day. wondering if anyone is interested in a trade for a box of them. the grow a lot in landscape here in vegas. i'm sure i could get a MFR box gathered up real easy. i guess the would work for casting have a neat seed inside, or honeycomb like structure when without seeds.
they are from an Australian bottle tree, best i can tell by looking on google

Don't be laughing... I got a 5 gallon bucket full of pine cones and seed pod off a magnolia tree (about the size of a small pine cone - 3" x 1 1/4") drying down in the shop now to play with! :lol2:

And, I have a Wally World bag with a dozen or so weed seed pod in it. Not sure what that stuff is, but it looks interesting. Just have to figure out what to do with it. Was thinking it might work well in call blanks or something. Has multiple seed pod growing around the center stalk, largest has 3 pods 1 1/2" to 1" spread about 2" apart on the stalk. Want to try dying and stabilizing it, then casting.

Those look interesting; how hard is the husk around the honeycomb like structure to peel off Trev? Or will they peel off without it falling apart?

And, what are you thinking about for trade? I'm game!

the insides honeycomb is quite delicate and often missing. i'm not sure if it would come out whole. i'll give it a try.

Just wondering how well the resin would penetrate the structure under the husk and whether it could be turned out or if it would have to be considered in turning it into the piece. Might make an interesting little bowl if one cast the entire cluster you have in hand and inverted it.

Sounds good Trev.
so i've got about a MFRB worth gathered up. i'll send them to you. if they turn into anything neat i take something small in trade. i'm not holding my breath though since they look cool but might be impossible to cast and workup. @rocky1 pm me your address again and i'll send them out
