I have TONS of highly figured claro walnut boards, slabs and turning blanks, i'd be most interested to trade sections of boards or slabs in the 1-2.25 inch ranges of thickness as I have tons of them. Most of it is rough sawn and needs surfacing. It's a mix of air and kiln dried stuff from here in Oregon. Thicker blanks 2-8 inches thick, I use a lot of and would rather hold onto, but if you have the flamey goods i'll part with some of it. Depends what you have for offer.

Wanted: DRY flame box elder for small turnings. Minimum 1.75 inches thickness by 4x4 inch width. Ideal would be a box of blanks: 4x4x2.25-2.5. Anything wider or thicker such as 2-6 inch thickness board or slab sections, 4-118 inches wide are ideal but a box of 4x4x2 inch blocks would work just fine as well. Must have the coveted red flame!
Here's a few samples of the walnut I have, of course each piece is different. If you let me know sizes you'd like I can pull some boards out and see what I have if you're serious.

I got your email Shea I'll just reply here. I have *some* dry but most is wet. I only recently have been able to start harvesting again because of the frequent floods. I'd be interested in trading though if you can use some wet stuff. The FBE does dry pretty quick.

I've dug out a few dry pieces - will post pics later.

Hey Kevin. I'd take anything you have dry if its got some flame and i'd trade some wet stuff too if its pretty nice. I'd for sure trade a large flat rate box or 2 or mailable board/slab piece. What would you be interested in size wise? I have lots of bigger boards and slabs as well as every imaginable size of turning stock in this stuff.....

I would be interested in some of your real thick stuff. No fbe to offer but I have different burl, ebony, and other domestic and exotic woods available.

Sorry, Flame Box Elder only on this one. I use all my thick walnut stock heavily, so will only part with it for something I really need, in this case dry FBE.

Here's a few pieces. Some aren't as big as you requested but you said you might be able to use smaller. The piece on the very left would need to be stabilized, which I can do. The cost would be based on how much resin it sucks up. By the time you average it out for the number of blanks you'd get out of it though, it shouldn't be too bad. A wild guess is it would take $20- $25 to stabilize that piece, but if the claro you show is wild enough I wouldn't charge anything. I think I can scrounge up some more wood too if thses work.

Those look great, I can use all of it. No need to stabilize the piece I'll do it here. I'll poke around the shop this evening and send some picks your way. I have so much figured walnut, if you have a preference for the type of stock you want in terms of thicker or thinner, or at least whether you might turn it or something else that would be helpful so I can show some stuff you'll want. Otherwise i'll try to find pieces that can fit in a large priority box.

I'll post picks this evening.

I turn and also still flat work. So thick is fine because I can resaw from it to get what I need. 4/4 is fine if it's insane stuff. That orange/brown stuff in your top picture and second from top on the right is awesome. I'd love to have some of that.

Here's 5 big pieces I pulled out, I tried to find the ones that might have that nice golden tiger pattern you liked. I'd trade a couple of them for that lot of box elder. I don't surface my wood much prior to turning, but I think you'll get the idea of what's inside through the surface fuzz. They're all pretty flawless and the figuring goes all the way through them, so I didn't get a picture of the bottoms of a couple of them, as it looks the same as the top. One or 2 might have very tiny surface checks that go at most 1/16-1/8 in on only one side or edge and one piece has a shallow bark inclusion in one small spot.
Photo 1 is more of a 1 and 7/8 thick board, but i'd cut a nice blank out of it if you like it.
2 is one blank
3 and 4 are one blank front and back shots
5 is the backs of blanks in photos 6 and 7
6 and 7 are seperate pieces, blank 7 is 2.25 by 9.25

I'm not real sure what you're offering volume wise. I think the fairest way is to trade on a 1:1 basis. I can figure the BF later because I think I have more to add.

All the pieces you showed are acceptable especially the ones with the gold color in them. Making sure I understand your sizes, the blank in the second photo is 11.5" square by 1.625" thick right? And the last blank is 14.5" square x 1.875" thick?

I havent traded on here too much but i assumed it would be roughly 1 to 1 bf or so. Yes on the thickness of those blanks, what you said is correct.
Those 2 pieces have been surfaced.

It might be tomorrow before I can post more pictures but I will put some more up.

That fourth piece of FBE!!!!!! Wow!

I just harvested a LOT of trees just like that. Some of it is insane. Two pallets of it went out yesterday and hope two more go out soon because I am in machinery buying mode again lol.
