Does anyone do leather work? I got a couple fixed blade utility knives (Stanley 199, models 10-199 and 10-209) and I would like to get a sheath made for each. The cost and effort to make my own, although fun, wouldn't be worth it. Hopefully, someone here can help.

Thank you for the recommendations guys, but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to do this. My sewing machine is out of commission at the moment and I several knife orders that I’m working on.

Hi Bigg081............as a member of WB and a Stanley knives project engineer I know those knives well.........SBD does carry a leather knife sheath under the Irwin brand but not sure if that's what your looking for? It's sized for a retractable knife and looks like our fixed knives would be sloppy in this sheath.

I will put you in touch!!
Thank you.
I love old Stanley tools. They made them do well and even beautifully. Neat that you get to work in that legacy. Y’all creating something special now?

I am prone to use and abuse the things at a thrift store. Cowboy Boots have lots of extra leather for not much money... I am not a leatherworker, I am a doodler, a tinkerer, and a piddler. I am soon to try my first metal brass turning to replace a midcentury modern drawer pull. I have embroidered, quilted, etc but never any Leatherwork.
If you decide to try it yourself, wrap your knife in saran wrap, thoroughly wet the leather, place knife on a thin board, lay wet leather over it, slide it into a vacuum bag and suck the air out of the bag to mold the leather to the shape of your knife. Or so I have heard.
Those sheaths would look pretty good in ostrich. Just saying

Any of y'all want to do a couple sheaths?
Leatherwork is the boys realm, not mine. I just introduced him to it and showed him the fundamentals. He shortly thereafter passed me like I was standing still. Having him to do it for me is great, though I appear to have taken on the position of the Shoemaker's kid around here.

There are many pretty excellent tutorial videos online, just do a search for wet forming leather sheaths. I wouldn't use a vacuum bag, it would form way too tight around the extended blade. You can use the knife itself, wrapped in plastic to protect it from the moisture then just use an easy to make tool to stretch it into place around the edges. Videos show you all you need to know. The hand sewing is the most tedious part.
