Guess I said that wrong, travel mug. Kits are available for them you get the liner and lid then turn a wooden outside jacket for them. I have been thinking about ordering one for a while just have not got to it.Coffee mugs......?

Here's one Kev. This kit is a lidless one because it was the only one I had and didn't have time to order another before the xmas giveaway and make it in time for El Guapo's xmas present. The travel mugs are the same SS insert just come with a lid. I have since made a lidded one for my son I will post pics eventually . . .

....really neat but one's turning skills need to be advanced ......?
Are the stainless inserts double walled? So as to create a thermos? Just curious.
The lidded ones are threaded to accept the lid but otherwise they are the same.
Kevin, where are you sourcing your inserts from? I like the idea of the threaded lid. I have a couple that I picked up from Rockler that I plan to make, but the lid is only a friction fit with a silicone ring - and I'd rather have threaded lids for when I make some for my wife and I.
Here you go. I get the regular ones from Packard. but I have heard Hobby Lobby also carries them (not the lidded I beleieve just the regular) and I like to support Hobby Lobby too. Haven't been there in a while I will check it out next time I go.
Smooth Turning also has a shaker set I want to try.
Read somewhere on the WWW recently about someone using minimally expanding spray foam between the liner and wood. I always make a big mess when I use that stuff but I suppose it could work. Not the ones I have bought. What I do is leave the o.d. fairly fat and fill the cavity with silicone. I do it mainly to keep the wood crom shattering if ever dropped but it probably offers some level of insulation as well. We need to ask @El Guapo his experiences with it though I still have my son's need to apply the finish.
