I'm getting some blanks together for @Jerry B to trade for a pen, maybe 2. All no smaller than 3/4" square and almost all are at least over 5". Bottom row are all stabilized. Larger blanks on top are all dry. I'd like both blanks on the right made into pens please. They are curly koa and ROB both stabilized. Let me know if I need to add anything to get 2 pens instead of the 1 we discussed. Just wanted to get these posted up for you to see. All blanks for toy are ROB. I feel like I'm getting the best end with how amazing you make this wood look!

Got my box of wood today, everything is excellent, especially the larger pieces, those bottom pictures don't do the wood any justice, the eyes and the grain is absolutely fan-flippin-tastic! :scare3:
I can't wait to make some pens with those, not even going to ruin them by cutting into segment pieces, they'll be pens all by themselves :good2:

will get started on the pens for the trade within the next 6 months or so, depending on the weather :lol2:

@norman vandyke , here's 2/3 of the trade ....the finished turned pens .... check your messages for details

Jr. Aaron Rollerball/Fountain pen combos. Hardware is Rhodium w/Black Titanium, woods are Russian Olive Burl & Curly/Spalted Koa.
Testing a new brand of CA for the finish, it's Mercury CA from Tennessee Pen Supply (Robert Kulp).
Very happy with this CA and will be all I use in the future :good2:

The pictures don't do these pens any justice, my photo booth is in storage ......
just wait until you get the pens in your hands, that Koa really shimmers in the light :good2:

What do you use for photos? I usually just try to get stuff outside in the sun.

Usually I have a photo booth, these I just took in my living room , outside isn't any good as the sun's going down

what viscosity of CA are you using?
I start out with 5 - 7 coats thin, then I wet sand with 320, apply another 5-7 coats of Medium and then wet sand with 320 & 400
Finally I do 3-5 more coats of Medium and then wet sand to 4000, and final polish with Dr Kirk's red/white/blue

You're attention to detail is just outstanding.

you got lucky .... that one issue we talked about this morning ....... it almost went away and I think if you don't know it's there, you'd never see it

Got my pens today and they are both gorgeous. From the kit and finish to assembly, they are perfect. @Jerry B always does the best job. Worth every bit of the burl I sent in exchange and I doubt this will be the last time I trade with him.

Holy moly. Those pens are suh-weeeeeeet!!!!!
Nicely done fellas.....

Very Happy you like the pens , am always anxious for people to see these In Person just to verify satisfaction 'cause I know my picture taking skills lack "finesse"
Will definitely enjoy making more trades with you in the future :good2:
