@Cody Killgore I don't think this meets your specs but it was worth a try. I did get flecks in almost every piece which I love. Everything is at least 1 3/4 x 1 1.4 x 5" except one piece is only 1" thick. Couldn't get to the J. Dogwood because the rain has set in, I'll try tomorrow. This is all real pretty stuff just not quite what that piece was.I wish you had posted about 2 months ago before I spread all my drum cut off pieces around. Some looks like too much sap but if you look at the end grain shots I think much of it will come off. Anyway on with the show.

Edit: I noticed a couple looked short in the pictures and went back to look. THey must have been pretty cut off because one is 4 3/8 and the other is 4 3/4". Cody I will see if I can get a bunch of the DOgwood cut up but if this just isn't going to work for you let me know.

Les,

that actually looks okay to me. I realized after posting that piece yesterday that I may have been chasing a unicorn. That piece is the only piece of ziricote I have. I didn't realize how rare that was until I started reading some responses. A part of me wants really figured stuff but another part just wants to stock up on as much pretty good stuff as I can.

I'm now wishing I had bought the other pieces of burl the guy had :sarcastic:

I love when the flecks show up with the black lines. I am going to dig around and see what really special stuff I have to add to it. Trust me I always get boxes way bigger than I need and pack them. I like happy people making awesome things.

Don't worry those pen blanks are top notch. I totally forgot I had these chunks sitting in my little kiln collecting dust.

I also have this stick of Mahogany that has some blackline spalt in the sap but on the other side you would either have to work around the scooped portion or have it cast. I can throw it in the box if you want. IMG_0452.webp IMG_0453.webp

I will look and see if I find anything else I think is pretty enough. I would probably stabilize any of the Mahogany with sap. I worked the sap on a shelf and it was kinda strange feeling through the process.

That all looks good to me Les. Also looks like more than enough!

I can work with that piece. I do my own casting.

I'll get to work on your knife Monday and should be done here in the next couple weeks.

@Cody Killgore if the Blobby doesn't work. The second pic down, second block down on left or in the Mahogany pic top left. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. Look at all 3 when they arrive and go with what you truly think will work best. I don't have anything made by anyone else out of my Mahogany.
