**ENDED** 1'' x 6'' figured walnut turning blanks (sale or trade)

I have a limited supply of these. I used to use some myself when making my figured wood fishing lures and sold a bunch to custom fishing rod makers as ''reel seat blanks''.(Ebay ''buy it now'' $35 free U.S. shipping for a bakers dozen=13, as fast as I could list them) I guess they could be jumbo pen planks, key ring/fob blanks, letter opener handle blanks,...whatever. I have also turned some pretty tool handles from blanks this size. I would like to sell 4 at a time min. and/or combine with other blanks I have listed/will list. Also open to trades, what ya' got ?

Daren, I'd like to get 4 of those if we can find something I have that suits you for trade. How about some beautifully grained shedua (but it's only 3/4 thick) ... if that might suit you (say for some fishing lures) let me know and I'll post pics, otherwise I'll go out in the garage and see what else I've got. I don't have any highly figured stuff or burls but are there any exotic that you could use in small amounts?

Paul, thin works, even real thin like 1/4''-1/2''. I am not looking to trade turning banks for turning blanks exclusively (have enough I think) and don't turn much anymore really. I do other things though like pistol grips/knife handles/make very small boxes (match safes-toothpick cases-ring boxes...) or can probably find a use for small pieces as accents or whatever. Bright colors preferred is all I can say since I don't know my exotics well at all.

Here are a couple (poor quality) pictures of 2 match safes/toothpick cases I just made a few days ago if people don't know what they are. The flash washed out the lighter one, very pretty cedar root I ''milled'' on my shop bandsaw. The red one is an exotic, I don't know what it is (traded for a 30lb box of mixed stuff for a curly maple bookmatch I sawmilled) With a better picture I'm sure Paul knows what it is.

Petty sure that red one is padauk but not 100%, could be bloodwood but padauk more likely. Nice boxes.

I'll dig out that shedua and get a pic or two

I'd say padauk for sure. Blood has such well-defined lines and the color is not spot-on.

Daren, since you mentioned an interest in thins, I've just posted a bloodwood thin for barter, but I'll be posting a bunch more stuff soon (probably no more thins, though, I think I'm out).

EDIT: DOH ! I just remembered, I have a whole bunch of misc thins down in the basement where I put my bowls together. I'll put up a few.

I don't think I have enough currently available to fill a large flat rate box, not of these particular highly figured banks I am showing. As I said in my first post limited supply and already established market to custom fishing rod makers (guys I met on feebay years ago just buy direct now) I get $10 for 4 (four). If this is agreeable I sell in sets of 4 and could scrounge up 4-8-12. If you are interested in the curly maple pen blanks you asked about, which I am replying to next, I can fill a box that way to save shipping. I already have some of these walnut blanks saved back for another member here I have yet to ship with some other wood.

How much for 8 of them and do you have any that are a little longer or that are about 1.5"x1.5"x6 for some Ice Cream scoop handles.

Welcome Brian, I may not have 8 left when it's all said and done (others PMed me first) If I do, I stated I get $10 for 4, no price cuts for quantity so 8 is $20.

As far as 1.5"x1.5"x6'' probably not in figured walnut, I'm a little low on that right now. But I would have it in curly maple if you want figured wood, or other species not necessarily figured but not easily found for sale (catalpa-honeylocust-mulberry-osage orange-apple-holly...others) I am thinking about resawing some big maple burls into smaller pieces for bottle stopper blanks-knife and pistol grip scales-pen blanks...I am sure I could cut some 1.5"x1.5"x6'' of that and post it, if you don't want it someone most likely will.

If you don't have 8 then 4 is fine. Don't need any maple but Will think about some of the other woods you mentioned.
