Looking for some 8/4 Persimmon with straight grain and hopefully a fair amount of Creamy sap wood. It can be flat sawn as long as the the growth rings are not too curly (small tree), needs to be cut from a sizable tree. I am a box call builder for turkey hunters and I use it for lids, works great. Ideally, my lid stock is 1/4 sawn. It's very hard to find.

I can work a trade, or buy outright. I have a lot of hard super curly sugar maple 6/4 and 5/4 boards 7"-9" wide and turning stock 2"x 2" or 2.5" x 2.5".

Mike, I think this is very good, actually this looks ideal, but to confirm, can you take a pic or 2 of the end grain. Also, how much do you have?...how long is the board? and could you ship in Large Flat Rate box from USPS? They have one box that is about 2.5" thick, 14"-15" wide and +- 22" long. If you want, contact me at my email address I send in a conversation and thanks!!

I saw your message on profile. You may or may not be able to PM- post count. @Kevin can fix that.
To answer your question-they are all the same chunk of wood.

Mike, again these look very good, what are we talking about for cost? Since I ultimately need blanks at 10.5" long you cut them down to that size for easier shipping. Is the grain straight all along the sides? How do we communicate beyond the forum for the sale? Can I post my phone #? This is awkward without the ability to PM.

Mike - Scott is the gentleman that made that awesome turkey box call with the burn-engraved swamp/turkey setting I posted last month. Scott is a great guy... you two will get along well.

My grandmother used to have a saying about laying down with (old) dogs... I sure hope she was wrong, I'm allergic to fleas!:sofa:

Well, as I thought I had mostly forgotten about this, showing my age here, but glad once again to return to WB.

I don’t like fleas either so I try to stay out of the dog house. Btw, you still making call boxes with persimmon lids? I am cutting some persimmon up now, and could make a trade if you need any.

Karl, no, not using Persimmon any more, the percentage of success was too low, but thanks for asking.
